I planned to use 50mm celotex under the floor and for the walls too, however part of the build was to reuse and recycle where possible so I have found a supplier of 2nd hand polystyrene and I'm planning to use this instead. Whilst it's not such a good product I'm saving in the region of £150.
Internal walls are to be finished in plasterboard.
Spend money on nice cladding. It's what you will look at everyday.

Hi Simon, many thanks for sharing your project with us, I am think of starting one myself very soon so I have been scouring the internet for some advice one that is insulated. I am proposing to build a shed/office approx 4.8m a 2.4m raised on wooden piles. I thought of using 6x2 for the joists a little like this one I have found http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd6/timber-works/ and insulate the floor also. Do you plan on insulating the floor if so what do you recommend? Also when you celotex inside between the frame do you plan to clad or plasterboard? What layers have you used in the roof? Is plyboard and the EPDM membrane all you need to use. Many thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions! Lewis.

I went for a 2090x2390 sliding patio door from Screwfix -it actually came with the packers so will hopefully have enough. I spent a while looking around ebay but saw nothing that would work for me. Will update as soon as i get to do some work on it!.

What sort of door did you go for in the end?

I haven't read any articles on fitting the doors but I've fitted a few smaller ones before. more important bit is to get the frame square and level. You can buy pre-made packers from places like screwfix to help fill the gaps around the frame. They are much easier to use than wooden slices off the shop saw. Trust me!

Hey simon, sounds like you had a busy weekend! Things have slowed down a bit my end as I had a few prior commitments - my patio door arrived though - any advice or good articles you have read on fitting the frame? Look forward to seeing some pics.

Sounds like you've had a busy weekend. The build is going well but much slower as the kids are too young to help! Can't wait to get the doors fitted and nail the cladding up.

Simon, the shed is looking great, I managed to get my wrap, roof, and 90% of the cladding on over the weekend, high winds prevented me from gluing the EPDM down, but its on there held down by some lengths of 4x2. v jealous of your cladding - budgets meant I had to go with the cheap stuff from Wickes, but I will see how this works out. Updating the blog now - look forward to your next update.
